neurologist… ms… diabetes… ear problem???? ugh!?
Ok, I have been having some weird symptoms the last couple weeks. Iam 23, I have been extremely dizzy, fatigued for no apparent reason and having tingling and numb sensations starting on my right foot, then my left… then tops of hand and last 2 fingers (pinky and ring) The neurologist doesnt seem to think it has much to do with my brain, which is good…. but he has all these ideas. I told him diabetes runs in my family BUT i have been to the drs plenty of times in the last couple yrs because of my dizzy spells i get, and my blood sugars are always wonderful. he wants to do a hemoglobin A1C test. I had this when i was pregnant. But, if my blood sugars always lookgood, what would this test tell us that a regular blood sugar test wouldnt???
he also wants me to see an ENT to see if my dizziness could be coming from my inner ear (pretty sure we checked that before too.. but k) and also scheduled an MRI of my brain.
I was cared about multiple sclerosis, but it seems to me that my symptoms are not really characteristic of MS, although I do have some other symptoms of it such as forgetting words mid-sentence… like I will be talking and know what i am about to say but then can’t seem to pull the word out of my head… that is really frustrating.
I am just trying to figure out what is going on with me right now tho…. I don’t consider myself a hypochondriac, or even close… i hate going to doctors, because in my experience they always give me the runaround and no answers… just I don’t know maybe you should try this medication, see if that will help… lol. no.
I am mainly concerned with the tingliness and numbness. it is really weird, and i have heard it could be stress-related but I don’t see how that is possible. i have been more stressed before and never went tingly or numb anywhere….
anyone with any insight would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks!
yes neuropathy has been considered, but what is causing it?????
not on any medication. I have had my hemoglobin tested when i was pregnant. my son is turning 2 next week
Stress is an interesting thing, always varied always present. Just because you didn’t have these symptoms before doesn’t mean they’re not stress-related.
Have you had your haemoglobin tested? Creatinine? It could be inner ear. If you’re taking any prescription or other type of medication, it could be a side effect. Are you dehydrated? Eating properly? Sleeping properly?
Considered neuropathy for the tingling in your extremities?
heyy that’s really weird.. i have had the same problem as well! you said diabetes runs in your family (type 1 runs in mine), so you should get tested for Celiac Disease. (Celiac disease is a condition where you have an autoimmune reaction to eating gluten, which would be in wheat, rye, barley, and a few other grains). The only cure for celiac disease is a Gluten Free diet. Once you eat properly & avoid cross contamination your symptoms will go away (or at least not get any worse). Make sue you get the correct test for CD, b/c most are inconlusive & many ppl w/ CD are misdiagnosed or undiagnosed! (Technically a colonoscopy is the most accurate way). CD can cause tingling & fatigue b/c your nerves become damaged from a lack of nutriens. Also, get your thyroid checked (not just a blood test, but a more complex test as well). Some thyroid disorders ARE linked to CD & the gene for diabetes. If that fails, get checked for Lupus or other autoimmune diseases, but i hope you dont have to take it that far! Good luck! x0x.
