Do you think that this could be MS?

I have extreme burning in my feet and hands, i get pins and needles in all the extremeties, from my wrist to my elbow always feels dead, and i get a numbing sensation throughout my body.

i have extreme fatigue. and insomnia

i have anxiety and depression, and i went to get tested today for diabetes or hyperthyroidism, just wondered as it is freaking me out,

and how do i ask my doctor for this test without him thinking i am an hypochondriac??

thanks x
i am a 19 year old female, and to my knowledge it doesnt run in the family.

I have more symptoms than told here but these are the worst that are always present!!
im 20 in 3 months
i also have constant headache (pressure) double vision, spacing out, and a sense of not being myself, like depersonalization.
also i have this feelin as though the inside of my chest is cold, i read up about this on internet n the main thing that came up was a ms hug.

No, I doubt that you have MS. It’s not uncommon for people who suffer from anxiety or stress to believe that they have MS. Both anxiety and stress can give symptoms that mimics MS (fatigue, insomnia, sensory disturbances, and even temporary paralysis). There are also a number of other diseases that can mimic MS, ranging from something as minor as a pinched nerve to Lyme’s disease – in fact, the first step in a MS diagnosis is to rule out all other causes for the symptoms.

I do, however, think it’s important to ask your doctor about it. Mainly because he will be able to put your mind at ease, but also because he should be able to help you as you are clearly not feeling well. Also, in the unlikely event that you should actually have MS, then it’s important to get a diagnosis as soon as possible.

All the best to you.

just tell him all of your symptoms and just say that you were looking up your symptoms and ms kept coming up he may be old school and say that you are too young but I know a 2 year old with ms so that is not the case and also my aunt found out at 22 she is now 39 and the sooner you find out the better . good luck

I would ask for a referral to see a Neurologist/MS Specialist. When you doctor asks you why, tell them all of your symptoms that you have been experiencing, and that you would like to get an MRI done with and without contrast of the brain so you can know more accurately what you are dealing with.

I think it would be worse if you walked right in, and said "I have Multiple Sclerosis, now please begin MS treatment/therapy." I would think that if you said that, they may think that you’re a hypochondriac, that’s why I think you would be better off requesting to be tested and have an MRI done.

Lymes Disease also mimics Multiple Sclerosis with it’s symptoms. However Lymes Disease can be detected by a simple blood test.

I would request to get the MRI done for the MS, as well as the Lymes Disease blood test to rule out the two most probable causes to your symptoms.

However, this pans out, one of the MOST IMPORTANT things you have to do and need to do, is to document all of your symptoms, from when they first began, up until the present. this will help any doctor and give them a better idea that you are taking the seriously and not making it up.

Good Luck to you.
