The diagnosis cannot be confirmed without doing these tests (there are many other forms of demyelinating disease). Even then, the doctor cannot say "It's definitely MS" unless this has not been your first episode, or until you get another attack. Most likely, it is multiple sclerosis.

Unfortunately, it sounds exactly like MS. However, finding this out now is a good thing, because the sooner you find out, the better off you are.
