MRI showed lesions on my brain. Multiple Sclerosis?

I had an MRI done only of my brain a week ago. My neurologist called for me to come in asap for results well it turns out i have lesions on both sides of my brain ranging from 1cm to 2.5cm. He said it looks like MS and he has ordered a second MRI of also my spinal cord to see if these lesions are also in my spinal fluid or something. Im scared he has not yet diagnosed me because he is waiting for the second MRI and possibly a lumber puncture.
My symptoms are: Dizziness, Blurred and double vision, Numbness in feet that have lasted for 1 month+, Muscle weakness, Memory and comprehension issues, Speech difficulties.

Does this sound like MS or am I worrying for no reason? Can something else cause brain lesions?
symptoms came on april 08 lasted until july 08 then came on again Dec 08 through to Jan now again July 09… still here I dunno if these count as episodes etc

Just type in brain lesions, and you will see that there are dozens of reasons why someone can have brain lesions. There are also more than 25 diseases and conditions that mimic MS so a neurologist who specializes in MS is your best bet. General neurologists should send you to an MS clinic where the neurologists are more familiar with MS and what the lesions that are indicative of the disease look like. The very best of luck to you!
Most of us who have MS lead a relatively normal life. So if you are diagosed, there is no reason to push the panic button.

  • how's this?:

Most likely, it is multiple sclerosis.
The diagnosis cannot be confirmed without doing these tests (there are many other forms of demyelinating disease). Even then, the doctor cannot say "It’s definitely MS" unless this has not been your first episode, or until you get another attack.

From the symptoms you have, in addition to the lesions on your brain on the MRI. Unfortunately, it sounds exactly like MS.

However, finding this out now is a good thing, because the sooner you find out, the better off you are. The sooner you can start taking action against it to attempt to slow dow it’s progress.
