Is this hypochondria?

I am a writer, and I was researching medical conditions for a character of mine. I was studying the symptoms MS (multiple sclerosis) and immediately I started matching the symptoms to myself. I do this with most, if not all, illnesses I read about.

The symptoms of MS are:

Muscle problems
Visual problems
Sensory problems
Balance problems

I’ve always been clumsy and not very coordinated.

I often have blurred or hazy vision and recently sharp and severe eye pains.

For three years my feet and hands have suddenly gone completely numb and would FEEL like they were curling up, although no movement is visible. It also is very hard to move my fingers and toes when this happens.

I’ve had balance problems all my life. Recently they’ve become much more severe, with bouts of dizziness coming out of the blue.

Two other symptoms are difficulty with swallowing and with thinking clearly. The swallowing could be because I never drink enough water, which also could explain quite a bit, and the difficulty thinking could be explained by stress. (My mother is in the hospital)

Blurry eyes: I wear glasses
Eye pain: Wrong prescription? Too much TV and computer time?
Numbness of hands and feet: I have bad circulation? I sit too much?

I’m sure these things are all easily explained, but I had OCD a few years back and I’m bothered by this. What do you think?

Notes: I am fourteen and female. I am sturdy, but I am tall and of a healthy weight.
Sorry, I’m not fourteen, I’m sixteen. I hit the wrong number. Stupid keyboard. :(
Thank you all! I feel better now. :)
I think I’ll go get some sleep and feel irrational anger at my poor character for putting me through all this trouble. I’m staying away from webmd. :D

I did not read all of this, but I have to say that this sounds like a case of hypochondriasis.

The worst thing in the world is to research side effects of drugs or diseases because people like you and I get freaked out and start finding symptoms that are not there, or you didn’t notice until you started reading about them.

I also have OCD and obsess about diseases, but it’s never a bad idea to have a regular visit to the doctor and explain any symptoms you have so they can figure out if you are healthy or not.

I think you are fine, just worrying about what you read. In my mind I have had a million diseases, in real life I’ve had none!

sounds to me you are focusing on yourself and are overly anxious. All these symptoms you decribed could also be nerve problems from you obcessing over things. See a dr and do some fun things!

I really think it is unlikely that you have MS. You have been going on all this time without thinking you had a disease until you read up on one. It seems that with all the stress, past problems with OCD, and researching symptoms you have got MS on your brain.
But it is fine to check with your doctor and get your symptoms evaluated if they continue or worsen.
    Relax.
