A search for Multiple Sclerosis news can lead to a plethora of different sources. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society offers the latest in Multiple Sclerosis news addressing research, legislation and advancements. Multiple Sclerosis is a disabling disease that affects more than 400,000 people in the U.S. annually. With so many affected, Multiple Sclerosis News, MS awareness, MS research and MS fund raising is as important as it has ever been. Multiple Sclerosis disrupts the flow of information within the brain and thus the flow of information to the rest of the body. Multiple Sclerosis can cause tremors, numbness, concentration issues, slurred speech, coordination issues, blurred vision (even blindness), paralysis, loss of balance and more. There is no known cure for Multiple Sclerosis. Therefore, it is considered a chronic health disease. Though there is no cure for Multiple Sclerosis, there have been positive advancements and accomplishments in research as well as legislation and support for individuals who have the disease.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is one of the most well known organizations associated with Multiple Sclerosis research, Multiple Sclerosis News, fundraising and overall advocacy. Quality healthcare is an ongoing concern for individuals with MS and affordable health insurance is one of many priorities for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Among the many topics that the MS society advocates is eliminating the 24 month waiting period for Medicare disability (currently, individuals who’s MS is so severe that they can not work and would ultimately be eligible for Social Security Disability benefits must wait for 24 months before Medicare will provide healthcare coverage) and access to lifesaving medicine (urging of congress to provide pathways for the FDA to approve safe lower cost biological drugs).

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s advocacy efforts resulted in several legislation successes in 2009 such as family caregiver outreach, family caregiver support and Health Insurance Risk Pool Premium Discounts (typical premiums for Health Insurance Risk Pool have been known to be double the amount on standard premiums). The Health Insurance Risk Pool is one of the few insurance options for individuals with Multiple Sclerosis, as it is considered a chronic illness. Therefore, discounted premiums would be considered a huge success.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is steadfast in its focus to provide programs and services to all individuals who are affected by Multiple Sclerosis as well as awareness to those who may need detailed information or resources regarding the disease. The MS society raises awareness through events like the annual bike ride, women on the move luncheons and walk MS to name a few. In 2009, regional chapter collaboration (Texas and Louisiana) proved to be critical to Multiple Sclerosis awareness and fundraising. The Multiple Sclerosis Society was responsible for over 18,000 cyclists during bike rides and over 9900 Walk MS attendees. The collaboration resulted in over 21 million dollars raised during lone star events. The events have proven to be helpful financially as well as providing a festive atmosphere for attendees and participants.

Annually, there are more than 400,000 people in the United States affected by MS. However, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society seeks to lessen these numbers through fundraising and awareness events. For more information regarding MS research, awareness or Society events visit the Texas Low Cost Health Insurance site and search MS resources.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease of people. It affects their entire lives, both physically and psychologically.

Physically, the brain and the spinal cord are involved. Specifically, degeneration of myelin, a material which is composed mainly of fats and serves as an insulation for the nerves, much like the covering of an electric wire, degenerates. This fatty insulation allows a nerve to transmit its impulses with lightning-like speed, enabling people to move almost without thinking. The loss of this myelin insulation causes what is, in effect, a short-circuiting so that a person loses the ability to make smooth, rapid, and coordinated movements. Thus, MS is a demyelinating disease. With multiple sclerosis, the loss of myelin appears to the naked eye as a hardened sclerotic (scar) area. These areas are multiple within the central nervous system, thus the term multiple sclerosis. Different areas of the brain and spinal cord are responsible for different kinds of movements. For example, the cerebellum, an out-pocketing of the brain, is responsible for making coordinated movements. When an area of demyelination occurs in the cerebellum, coordinated movements become difficult. The neurological deficit is quite dependent on the region of the brain or spinal cord that has been affected.

Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis can include:

1. Blurred or double vision

2. Difficulty maintaining balance

3. Difficulty speaking or swallowing

4. Facial pain

5. Muscle spasms

6. Decreased memory

7. Tremors

8. Sexual dysfunction

9. Loss of bladder and/or bowel control

10. Mood swings and depression

11. Numbness or tingling sensations

12. Blindness

What Causes Multiple Sclerosis?

The exact cause of multiple sclerosis is unknown. However, researchers believe multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory process that attacks a substance in the nervous system called myelin.
Myelin is an important substance. It surrounds the cells in the nervous system and facilitates rapid transmission of signals up and down neurons. When myelin is broken down, nerve impulses travel slower, causing symptoms that are characteristic of Multiple Sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis Treatment

Ozone counteracts any bacteria, virus, or other agent that plays a role in the Multiple Sclerosis causes, and it improves the nervous system. Ozone air purifiers help with the physical and chemical sensitivities around the home. Allergies and fatigue due to environmental conditions are also improved. Colon cleansing with ozonated water provides the best results for treating Multiple Sclerosis.

Those suffering from multiple sclerosis seem to be deficient in most all nutrients because of mal-absorption. Cleaning the colon should be the first step in detoxification for the proper absorption and healing from your nutritional supplements. Use Oxy-Mega colon cleanser for two weeks before colon irrigation to avoid the cleansing effect. This is due to the increased amount of toxins the body is going to release. Only after the colon is clean will ozone rectal insufflations be beneficial.

Avoid all junk, processed, canned, frozen, or refined foods, alcohol, caffeine, canola oil, chocolate, diet soda drinks with artificial sweeteners, fats, gluten, hydrogenated oils, mucus forming foods, saturated fats, table salt, sugar, spices and white flour.

Home Remedies for Multiple Sclerosis

1. Follow a juice fast for 3-5 days. Administer warm water enema. Then adopt a lacto-vegetarian diet.

2. Raw fresh unsalted butter, homemade cottage cheese and soured milk and unfiltered honey are beneficial.

3. Cabbage, carrot, cucumber, radish, tomato and red beet, all fruits and berries and liquid whey have special value in the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis.

4. Vitamin supplement is of vital importance. Large doses of Vitamin B1, Vitamin B3 and Vitamin B6 and Vitamin F and Vitamin E can be used successfully.

5. Avoid overwork and fatigue.

6. Massage the weakened muscles and set the joints through normal range of motion everyday.

7. Hot baths, hot mineral baths, cold showers in the morning and evening, swimming and exercises are other useful measures.

Multiple Sclerosis Fact Sheet

Multiple sclerosis is a very serious and hard condition because it affects nerves. Multiple sclerosis is a disease that ” attacks” the nerves fund un your spinal cord or your brain. Because of this, you will suffer from problems with controlling your muscles, vision and your balance. This is what multiple sclerosis patients have to deal with. There are not may people who suffer from multiple sclerosis, but those who do have to put up with a lot. Multiple sclerosis is a disease that affects mainly young people, starting from their 20′ s. Furthermore, studies have shown that women are more likely to develop multiple sclerosis than men.

Multiple sclerosis affects the central nerve system. The nerves affected by multiple sclerosis are made of nerve fibres. These fibres transmit the electrical impulses or various messages that the brain sends. These messages are sent to different areas of your spinal cord or brain. so you see, when you are affected with multiple sclerosis, these signals mess up. Because these nerves go to all the important organs and muscles and tissues of your body, you only, can imagine what multiple sclerosis can do to you. You might wonder how multiple sclerosis appears. Well, this condition, multiple sclerosis is thought to be an auto immune condition. This, means that your immune system starts to attack your own body cells instead of the enemy ones. This is how multiple sclerosis starts. The immune system screws up and instead of fighting against virus or bacteria, it starts to go against your own nervous system, thus multiple sclerosis. When you are affected with multiple sclerosis, the myelin sheet of your nerves is

damaged. This way, the nerve will not be able to send the signals as it should. This is the main problem with multiple sclerosis. The word sclerosis, from multiple sclerosis actually means hardened. So it actually tells you what will happen to your nerves if you have multiple sclerosis. Your nerves will harden in time.

What actually causes multiple sclerosis is still an unsolved equation. Reaserchers say that both genetics and the environment are causes of multiple sclerosis. Studies have actually shown that people who live far from the equator are more exposed to multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis can affect many people who are different. Their symptoms of multiple sclerosis can also differ. The most common multiple sclerosis symptoms are: problems with your vision, with balance, memory problems and problems with some internal organs and muscles.

Multiple sclerosis is a rather unknown disease, because it does not affect many people. However, multiple sclerosis is a very hard medical condition. The reason is because when you suffer from multiple sclerosis, the patches of myelin or the fibres of your nerves are damaged. Multiple sclerosis affects the nerves of your eyes, spinal cord or brain.

This disease, multiple sclerosis actually refers to the number of sclerosis areas that are a result of the demyelination of your nerves. Multiple sclerosis affects young adults, with ages between twenty up to fourty years old. Multiple sclerosis affects more women then men. The number of women affected by multiple sclerosis is actually twice of the number of men that suffer from multiple sclerosis. In multiple sclerosis, there are periods of flare- ups and periods of remission. Actually the first type of multiple sclerosis is called relapsing- remitting. However, this is only the beginning of multiple sclerosis. In time, this condition gets even worse. The second stage of multiple sclerosis is second progressive. The third type of multiple sclerosis is first progressive. For the first two multiple sclerosis types, there are drugs that can change the course of the disease, multiple sclerosis.

Multiple sclerosis presents a mistery that people have not been able to solve yet. What causes multiple sclerosis is still unknown. One of the explanation that doctors have given us is that multiple sclerosis may be caused by a virus. Another theory is that an antigen, of unknown origin is the cause of multiple sclerosis. What this antigen or virus do is to make your body attack its own tissues. Then, the auto immune system starts to fight against its own cells, causing inflammation and the distruction of the myelin patch and nerve fibres. This is what happens when you have multiple sclerosis. Genetics is thought to be another probable cause for multiple sclerosis. If someone in your family has had multiple sclerosis, you are more at risk of developing multiple sclerosis then others. Another cause for the development of multiple sclerosis is thought to be the environment. It appears that the first 16 years of your life are very important for multiple sclerosis. If you have lived in a temperate climate, chances are that you will develop multiple sclerosis. On the other hand, if you have lived in a tropical climate, that lowers the risk of having multiple sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis and My Mri

I guess last week was a health week for me. I went to the dentist on Wednesday the 12th. My teeth have become a wreck because I drink too much Vanilla Coke and I eat too many sweets. I must have at least 10 cavities. Then after that I drove to Fargo and had an MRI on my brain and spinal cord. I’d been having some problems the previous week relating to my multiple sclerosis. My regular neurologist moved away so I’m getting a new one. I think? So I went into the MRI machine for 1.5 hours. That’s a long time to be on your back in a cylinder shaped machine with absolutely no room to move. When it’s closed an MRI machine is roughly 2 feet in diameter. My elbows were touching the sides of the cylinder and my nose was only about 4 inches from the top of it. I’ve done MRIs before but they lasted only 20 minutes. This one was for an hour and a half.

In an MRI the patient lies inside a cylinder that contains a powerful electromagnet. Technicians start radio waves that cause hydrogen atoms in the body to release energy. The magnet maps this activity from thousands of angles and sends the information to a computer, which produces a clear, high resolution picture of the scanned area. A radiologist then interprets the picture. Because MRI can see through bone, it is especially useful for looking deep into the body. It can look beneath nerve coverings, see damage from a stroke or probe blood vessels. It can look at the heart for disease or in my case check for more plaque growth. The radiologist examining the monitor image can program the computer to show cross-section slices of the image for a closer look.

After checking in and doing the necessary paperwork you will be sent to a dressing room. You may have to change clothes but in my case I simply emptied my pockets of coin, my belt, money clip and my shoes into a locker that was locked. What you can wear during the test depends on what you are wearing when you show up. Other things that can’t be worn are jewelry, watches, keys, credit cards and so on. Such objects can stop radio frequency waves from getting into the body and cause distorted images. You’ll have to leave these items in the locker during the test. Certain clothing – which contains metal zippers, rivets, wires, and belt buckles – are a no-no. These will have to stay in that locker and you’ll have to wear a gown. (oh goodie)! The tech asked if I wanted a gown and I said no so when I went into the machine I unzipped my pants and folded them over the zipper.

In case you’ve never done an MRI they are noisy. The tech told me it had something to do with coils in the machine which made no sense at all to me. He put earplugs in my ears for the noise but it was still extremely loud even with the plugs! He asked if I was claustrophobic and I said when you give me that emergency button I won’t be. There’s a clicker on a rope which goes into the machine with you. You can push the button on the clicker which signals the tech if you want to get out of the machine. That’s in case you get claustrophobic or have to go to the bathroom or something. To tell the truth I’m a little claustrophobic but having that button to push if I got scared or had a problem made a difference for me. The tech was really nice and helped me get into a prone position for the test. My legs don’t always respond to what my brain tells them to do so I needed some help. Then he pushed me into the machine and started it up.

When in the cylinder a person should stay as still as possible. In the beginning it sounded like someone was knocking on the door. This noise wasn’t too bad but then the really loud knocking started. It sounded like someone was banging on a metal bucket which a shovel. I dozed off a couple of times but always woke up when that metal bucket was getting banged on. If for any reason the tech does have to pull you out then they have to start the test over from the beginning. Since I didn’t want that to happen I stayed as still as I could. After about an hour the tech pulled me out because he gave me a shot of dye. I think the dye makes the pictures better but don’t quote me on that.

They now make open sided MRI machines for people with claustrophobia. I guess those machines don’t do as good a job so I always choose the cylinder type. When the test was done I drove the 20 miles back home and relaxed. An MRI is not that big a deal but I guess for me personally it’s kind of stressful. I don’t mean sitting in the cylinder but thinking about my life and my MS. Is it getting worse? What is my life going to be like in the future? All these things go through my head. For me that is the stressful part!

The next day I met with a physicians assistant and he explained my MRI to me. I didn’t have anymore plaque but he said there were some areas that showed that the disease was unsettled. I don’t know what that meant but I left that meeting knowing that I had secondary progressive MS. It’s not getting any better which I knew before I did the MRI.

Then I went to a physical therapist in the afternoon. He asked me a lot of questions about my MS and my physicality and then he showed me how to properly walk with a walker. That may sound funny but what he showed me did make a difference. I was moving the walker first and then stepping. He said take a step and then move the walker. It just makes you move your legs instead of relying on the walker. I drove home Thursday night and I was pooped! Between the appointments and sitting in that cramped MRI for an hour and a half just did me in. I rested Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I consider sitting at my computer desk as resting. So I was doing some work but nothing too stressful.

Over 100 million Americans have tried it at least once, and now 13 states have legalized medical marijuana. Here is my, “contrary to popular belief” list 1. Mounting evidence has shown it is far less dangerous than alcohol and cigarettes, legal medicines, and even caffeine, yes thats right you can OD on coffee. 2. No person has ever overdosed on marijuana ever, not once in the history of the world. It is simply not toxic enough. 450000+ die each year from tobacco cigarettes, while a good 50000+ die from alcohol overdose. 3. Those high on marijuana are less likely to commit violent acts, not more likely. In fact, I watched a video on youtube about a British test where a man was given a marijuana joint to smoke and then was given a driving test. He performed better high. Marijuana actually makes you far more cautious 4. IT DOES NOT LEAD TO LUNG CANCER. A natural grown plant simply is not toxic enough to cause lung cancer 5. It does not kill brain cells. In fact, studies are showing that it may in fact STIMULATE brain cells. Read about it here www.sciencedaily.com 6. It is about as addictive as a peanut, and there are no withdrawl symptoms. I havent smoke in, lets see, one month tomorrow, and I have felt nothing wrong with me. 7. The gateway theory is false. If you watch Penn & Tellers bull****, numerous studies have shown that alcohol and cigarettes are far more likely to lead to hard drugs. The reason you don’t hear about this is because they are multi-billion dollar …

Is Yeast Infection the Missing Link in Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (CNS), the brain and the spinal cord. It is essentially when the body begins attacking itself, causing damage to the myelin sheath surrounding “white matter” nerve cells. The damage or loss of myelin insulation degrades the ability of the nerves to send signals to each other. This can lead to a wide variety of symptoms ranging from numbness, to muscle spasms, to joint pain.

In his 2003 book An Extraordinary Power to Heal, Dr. Bruce Semon goes into detail about how yeast infection can cause chronic disease and auto-immune illnesses. He describes how yeast cells can camouflage themselves and trick the body’s own immune cells into attacking the wrong things.

There is now evidence beginning to mount that treating yeast infections will treat MS and other autoimmune disorders. Many doctors, including Dr. Semon, have treated patients with vast improvements in their MS just by fighting off their yeast infections.

Yeast infections can start out slowly and then get progressively worse. The problem with chronic illnesses is that we don’t notice the condition changing because it happens so slowly. Sometimes when we realize that there have been significant changes is when we try to do something we haven’t done in a while perhaps a seasonal activity and we discover we can’t. By the time this happens the, in the case of yeast infection, the fungi are already so deeply entrenched that sometimes extreme measures are required. Drastic changes in diet seem to be the single most important step you can take to start ridding your system of a yeast overgrowth that may be contributing to your declining health.

If you have MS, or know someone who does You owe it to yourself to do the right thing and seek help for this debilitating, and potentially fatal condition. Click Here Now for more information and advice if you think you have a yeast infection.

Cured Multiple Sclerosis! Now What Are You Going To Do?

The doctor stood over her power wheelchair waiting for an answer. She turned her chair to face the physician looked up with determination and said, “Tell the world the truth!”

How did this survivor of 25 years of primary progressive-downhill, multiple sclerosis relieve her lack of mobility, spasms, ataxia and memory shutdown? She went from completely immobile and highly impaired brain function to freedom of movement, is currently learning to walk again, and has returned to college and easily managing to ace her computer and writing classes. She just finished another section of her autobiography with the submission of 45 pages to her college instructor.

Miracle? No! It was a process invented by her ex-husband that combined the use of personal, soft-tissue lasers and their combined nutritional experience (50 years), that delivered her healing. They found a way to stop the disease’s progression that is simple, reproducible and universally applicable to most degenerative disease.

This is their truth but it came from research performed back in the early 20th century. According to Dr. Meinig’s book “Root Canal Cover-up”, there are infections in the mouth, gums, jaw and teeth called focal infections. These infections grow after the filling materials used in restorative dentistry dries and shrinks. Shrinkage leaves a small pocket where almost imperceptibly small remnants of bacteria can grow and create virulent pockets of focal infection. What is even more amazing is that these bacterial strains can literally metastasize as identical strains elsewhere in the body tissues which are weakened. These infections are literally broadcast from the head, mouth and throat to joints, connective tissue and even organs weakened by stress of the focal infections.

So how can a lay-person intervene with these deeply imbedded focal infections?

1. Slow the infection with laser light simultaneously applied at the source of a focal infection and the primary, peripheral symptom sites where pain, inflammation and stiffness are present. The personal, low-powered lasers are available in penlight laser pointers available over the Internet or at your local business supply store.

2. Feed the tissue with high-energy nutraceutical supplementation. These steps help the cells remove the toxic waste products from the recovering tissue along with massage, acupuncture and moderate exercise. We found that using the phyto-nutrients (plant-sugar concentrates) were incredibly helpful in boosting cellular health making the membrane walls permeable again.

3. We dissolved the calcium cocoon around her muscles, organs and connective tissue with healthy drinks to balance the pH such as chlorophyll, diluted raw apple-cider vinegar or aloe vera.

4. To reinstitute proper calcium management by the parathyroid, an imbalance which had caused the calcium cocoon limiting her mobility, we concentrated on balancing the thyroid-parathyroid and adrenal glands so they sustained each other’s optimum operations.

5. Finally and most important, the recovery required lots of purified water to carry out the waste products from the breakdown of the calcium’s cocoon sheath.

6. Early as possible get the recovering person into physical rehabilitation to keep rebuilding strength, endurance and dexterity. Continue laser scanning during physical rehab to clear infections that opportunistically regenerate in the joints. Laser scans increase the energy of the cells to empower them to rebuild muscle memory that leads to restored mobiity.

Miracles aren’t involved with this protocol. Just complete the recovery protocol to experience your symptom relief. It is within anyone’s grasp. Two daily doses of cellular enhancing foods and supplements immediately followed by two laser scans at twelve hour intervals, gets the tissue recovery under way. Monitoring saliva pH (target range of 6.5-7.0 pH) keeps you on track with a recordable index that provides a ongoing status report on your progress. The protocol also works on most other modern diseases including arthritis, stroke, heart disease, including common ailments like colds, flu and even acne.

Why it works was the research of a scientist employed by the predecessor of the A.D.A. who discovered almost a hundred years ago that restorative dental work may be the source of modern degenerative diseases. The inventor suggested that laser light capable might be capable of interrupting and eradicating these primary, focal infections without drugs or invasive procedures; the only other option was extraction of all the infected teeth.

It’s not claimed to be a cure because only the body’s cells can cure themselves. The protocol approaches the process by recognizing the amazing energy input of handheld, personal lasers combined with power-food supplementation as it brings the cells out of their coma to recognize their DNA’s blueprint. As cellular intelligence and identity are enhanced with power-foods and laser energy infusions, the body has a built-in, memory map to return to health. Commitment and applied discipline to the program’s nutrition and laser protocol schedule offers personal, affordable recovery with minimum difficulty.
